Giacomo Marengo

La Morra (CN) - Piemonte - Italy
Marengo’s family origin lies in Piedmont from the father’s
side, which comes from the commune of La Morra, and has been producing Barolo for more than a century.
Family estate count around three hectares, of which two of Barolo DOCG (Cerequio and Fontanazza vineyards) and one of Rosso Langhe DOC, from the Fontanazza area.
The wines are produced through a collaboration between owner Emilio Marengo with his friend Roberto Voerzio, who keeps aside a small space for him in his incredible cellar.
In the cultivation operations, they go to great lengths to limit the production per vine through various stringent bunch-thinning interventions, which are carried out manually under Emilio supervision.
Production levels sit at an average of fewer than 500 grams
per vine, and this means that the quality of the resultant wines is practically immune to seasonal vicissitudes.
The wines are dense, with a magnificent body, complex, balanced aromas and a quite unrivalled level of polish.
