Cà del Vént

Cellatica (BS) - Lombardia - Italy

Cà del Vént is a small, independent, artisanal, family-owned boutique winery set in Cellatica at the eastern border of Franciacorta, Lombardy -Italy.

The estate covers only 6 hectares and the vineyards enjoy a west-facing position on top of the Campiani hills (350/400m a.s.l.) with quite steep slopes, a unique windy and dry microclimate (the name Cà del Vént means the “ house of wind”) and an extraordinary clayey & limestone-rich soil suited for the cultivation of exceptionally healthy grapes.

We emphasise making high-quality, no-compromise wines following completely natural methods and a site-specific approach: every vine is cared for only manually – any machines are not allowed in the vineyards, rows are not weeded, and the fruit is hand-harvested following very low yields.

Actually, we harvest less than the half of what local disciplines entitle us by setting a limited number of buds on each plant and then undergo a green harvest to pick almost 1kg/grapes per vine - 1 bottle of wine/vine on 6 hectares high-densely planted with 7000 stocks each.

Moreover, we decided to preserve and maintain our traditional authentic varieties (the red Cellatica Doc discipline blends Barbera, Marzemino, Schiava Gentile and Incrocio Terzi n.1 that we harvest, vinify separately and do not filter to keep their original aromas, flavour and character), protecting and cultivating our 40-year-old vines that came with the estate.

Even the new vineyards recently planted are estimated to live 80 years and beyond. Compromises are also banished in the cellar, where we follow a whole artisan approach, not adding nor manipulating our wines.

They are the result of our terroir and the environmental conditions every year. The long refinement times witness their strong personality: the red Clavis, produced only in exceptional vintages, is proposed onto the market even after ten years since its vintage.
